15/2/2019

The day is dedicated to the Acropolis. Although the weather was not an ally, the visit started from the Acropolis hill. Students divided into two groups were guided to the monuments of the Acropolis rock and met the ancient Greek heritage and the symbols that formed the basis and the beginning of European civilization. The monumental entrance of the Propylaea, the Parthenon, a temple dedicated to the patron of the city, the goddess Athena, which in ancient times housed its golden-ivory statue, the Erechtheion, the double temple of Poseidon and Athena with the Caryatids in the place of the columns, the theater of Herodes Atticus, which still works today and hosts performances and renowned artists, Pnyka, the place where democracy developed in its supreme form, all the unique creations of free people made in the greatest moment of Athenian democracy.

A visit and tour to the Acropolis museum followed. Kouros, Koreas, Caryatids, Giants and Titans, gods and mortals, have been there for 25 centuries now ready to talk to you, to invite you to the feast of their city, to introduce you to Greek philosophy.
