The Korrika is a very famous race celebrated every 2 years around all the Basque Country. Basque people started doing it in the 1970s to revindicate the Basque language, known as Euskera. This tradition has been maintained and nowadays the race crosses all the villages of the Basque Country during 10 days more or less. People of all ages take part in it, leaving their daily routines aside, making it a celebration of our language. It is one of the largest demonstrations gathering support for a language in the world, running day and night without interruption for 11 days. Korrika is celebrated beyond its fundraising goal, encouraging, supporting and spreading the Basque Language.
Here we are our students and teachers joining the rest of inhabitants from Laudio who decided to participate and run last April 10th, 2019.
